Technical and Productions Director (Performing Arts) (Ref:19328)

Kowloon (WKCDA Project Site Office)

Reporting to the Executive Director, Performing Arts, you are responsible for:

  • overseeing the production management and technical direction for all performing arts programmes, presentations and co-productions;
  • directing all technical and production operations to cover back-of-house, on-stage production, venue-related programmes and events etc. in all performing arts venues and outdoor spaces in WKCD;
  • managing back-of-house operations and maintaining performance facilities and theatre equipment and ensuring all theatre staff, contractors, hirers work to the venue’s standard operating procedures and safety levels;
  • devising and submitting annual operation and programme budgets, and monitoring expenses including short and long-term purchases, upgrades, maintenance, and other special equipment and facility technical projects; and Collaborating with Projects Division and District Facilities Services to manage the A&A works, defect items etc. for all performing arts venues.

The ideal candidate should:

  • possess a recognised university degree or equivalent;
  • possess a minimum of 20 years of relevant experience in performing arts theatre technical productions and operations, of which 10 years should be in a senior position; theatre planning and other technical field experience is preferred;
  • have direct experience working in performing arts facilities or professional entertainment venues, and have extensive local knowledge in theatre management including best market practices and techniques;
  • have extensive knowledge of theatrical systems, including lighting, sound, rigging, AV / Video etc.
  • possess effective organisation and time management skills, and is capable of working on multiple projects / tasks simultaneously; and
  • have excellent oral and written communication skills in English and Chinese (Cantonese).
