Manager, Museum Business and Planning (Ref:18429I)

This role will be part of the Museum Business Team which aims to provide insights and direction to M+ Board, M+ senior management, M+ section heads and relevant counterparts by data mining, scenario hypothesis modelling and testing, market research, etc., in order to drive success to museum business and achieve operational excellence. The role of Manager, Museum Business and Planning will be the key working partner with department heads and team heads to assist the Head, Museum Business in facilitating the museum to achieve annual KPI targets and initiatives, improve operational efficiency and ultimately build up museum’s image and reputation in the marketplace.


You will be responsible for:

  • assisting the Head, Museum Business in developing the annual corporate and business plans of M+ to achieve the agreed KPIs;
  • collaborating closely with respective department heads and team heads to develop their departmental operating plans with initiatives aligning with the strategic business direction from senior management;
  • conducting operational and financial modelling analysis to facilitate M+ management to make decision and prioritise on potential initiatives;
  • conducting sensitivity analysis, scenario hypothesis and market research on best practice of different operating models to identify optimum one best fitting M+ environment;
  • identifying process efficient and effective improvement opportunities in the operations and coordinating with the departmental users in the implementation;
  • liaising closely with Finance counterparts in aligning operational and financial information and figures and providing advice on interpretation of departmental and project budgets;
  • assisting the Head, Museum Business in developing the corporate and departmental KPIs;
  • consolidating the KPI dashboard data with interpretation on business performance and operational details for management review; and
  • supporting other ad hoc duties as assigned by supervisor when required.


You should:

  • possess a recognised university degree in Business Administration, Finance, Statistics or other relevant disciplines, MBA qualification will be an advantage;
  • have at least 8 years of working experience in corporate and business planning, business modelling and analysis in sizable organisation or consulting firm;
  • possess solid experience in preparing corporate and business plans and developing KPI framework, preferably in the commercial or museum sector;
  • showcase a keen interest in the field of museum businesses and have proven track record of driving successful business results in a large-scale organisation;
  • demonstrate strong business and financial acumen with good numerical sense;
  • possess good knowledge in process management and building workflow is an advantage;
  • be highly-organised, detail-minded, with strong problem-solving skills and excellent project management skills;
  • be self-motivated, proactive and result-oriented;
  • be a good team player with good collaboration, communication and influencing skills;
  • be able to build rapport with counterparts and passionate about working in a multi-cultural environment;
  • have good computer literacy in using MS Office, Project and Visio. Advanced knowledge in using Excel or other statistical application will be an advantage;
  • have excellent written and oral communication skills in English and Chinese.
