Candidates with less experience may be considered for the post of Assistant Manager, Performing Arts (Learning and Participation)


You will be responsible for:

  • working closely with the Head and team members in implementing learning, participatory and advocacy strategies;
  • researching, designing, implementing and evaluating an array of learning and participatory programmes for specific audience segments including but not limited to people with disabilities and older adults:
  • serving as in-house expert on accessibility services for learning and participation and broader performing arts programming across the District;
  • developing resources, and capacity building activities on sensory-friendly performing arts programming for internal and external stakeholders;
  • managing a range of existing projects to ensure they are delivered within the required standards, budget and timeline;
  • drawing insights from audience research and learner’s evaluation report for programme improvement;
  • overseeing plans on other audience building projects, such as docent and volunteer schemes;
  • ensuring resources are fully utilised to their maximum impact in accordance with the Learning and Participation Team’s vision, mission and strategic priorities;
  • collaborating and liaising with business partners, arts and cultural organisations, schools and higher education institutions locally and overseas to ensure West Kowloon Cultural District Authority serves a varied range of educational needs; and
  • partnering with different internal teams (including but not limited to Artistic, Technical and Productions, Venue Operations and Research team) in developing learning and participation programmes across the performing arts and cultural studies (including Hong Kong and Chinese culture) subject areas.


You should:

  • possess a recognised university degree in arts, humanities, social sciences, performing arts or cultural studies or equivalent;
  • have at least 8 years of relevant experience in organisations related to arts, performing arts or cultural institutions or higher education institutions, of which at least 4 years are in a supervisory role;
  • have substantial experience in designing, leading, and managing programmes and services for people with specific needs. Experience designing curriculum or leading training is a plus;
  • be impact or result-oriented and able to lead event-based projects through every stage from ideas to completion;
  • have a global mindset as well as a fair understanding of Hong Kong’s arts education landscape;
  • be passionate about arts inclusion and able to lead event-based projects through every stage from ideas to completion.
  • have a structured business mind and possess strong communication, supervisory, programme and budget management skills; and
  • be proficient in written and spoken English and Chinese (including Putonghua).
