Deputy Director, Museum Operations (Ref:19197)

Reporting to the Museum Director, the Deputy Director, Museum Operations directs and supervises the functions including Administration, Venue Operations, Visitor Services and Cultural Enterprise.  The incumbent also oversees the shared services from other divisions / departments of West Kowloon Cultural District Authority (WKCDA). 

You will be responsible for:

  • providing leadership, guidance and advice on day-to-day operation of the Hong Kong Palace Museum (HKPM) that include venue operations, building management and visitor services;
  • managing the museum building and operational projects, and developing internal processes to meet the Museum’s objectives and achieve major KPIs;
  • masterminding and developing the cultural enterprise and commercial activities for the HKPM for marketing and income generating purposes to support museum operations;
  • overseeing museum administration and providing necessary administrative and secretarial support to the HKPM Board and sub-committees; and
  • overseeing the shared services provided by other divisions / departments of the WKCDA such as general procurement, finance, security and district facilities services.

The ideal candidate should have:

  • a recognised university degree or above in Accounting, Business Administration, Marketing or otherrelated disciplines;
  • at least 15 years of experience in museum sector including a minimum of 5 years at senior management level;
  • a track record in management and operations of museums or other related organisations that cover budgeting, people management, building management as well as commercial and retail services;
  • strong leadership and communication skills with exceptional organisation, planning and time managementcompetency; and
  • excellent oral and written communication skills in English and Cantonese with knowledge of Putonghua or any other language is an advantage.
