General Manager, Commercial Operations (Ref:19068)

Reporting to the Chief Commercial Officer, you are responsible for:

  • designing long term commercial strategies and business development aspects of West Kowloon;
  • planning and developing the Retail, Dining and Entertainment (RDE) space utilisation and curating and managing the RDE areas with a view to facilitating the optimisation of business environment for tenants as well as the Authority;
  • maximising potential revenue generation opportunities such as advertising, retail and brand licensing, tourism and merchandising from West Kowloon while at the same time maintaining the vision and mission of West Kowloon;
  • supporting the district development to monitor and manage commercial events according to the business plans;
  • providing strategic advice in relation to third party development agreements for the business of RDE, the Hotel, Office and Residential (HOR) and Other Arts and Cultural Facilities (OACF);
  • providing commercial advice to the development of revenue generation strategy and operational management of the Core Arts and Cultural Facilities (CACF);
  • developing the organisation structure of the Commercial Operations Department and leading the department to deliver the commercial objectives; and
  • establishing rapport with the retail, entertainment and tourism sectors, and develop relationship management of key stakeholders, government agencies and commercial partners.


The ideal candidate should possess:

  1. A recognised university degree or equivalent with professional qualifications in property related fields and/or business management followed by at least 20 years post-qualification experience, of which 10 years at senior management level;
  2. Proven track record in managing large scale commercial operations or infrastructure development in a sizable organisation from strategy setting to implementation;
  3. Extensive experience in developing and managing successful commercial and property related business especially in the RDE sector through integration with the application of e-commerce and latest IT technologies; preferably with previous exposure to the arts and cultural environment, visitor experience or tourism sector;
  4. Strong business acumen and credibility to liaise with and influence individuals at the senior executive and board levels;
  5. Exceptional commercial negotiation skill and strong management experience, professional written and verbal communication and excellent interpersonal skills; and
  6. Working knowledge of government affairs is desirable.
