The digital team at M+ is seeking a creative, highly visual social media producer who will collaborate with colleagues from across the museum to coordinate M+-branded social media accounts and publish accessible, engaging content for a broad general audience.

 

You will be responsible for:

  • creating, coordinating, and publishing posts for the museum’s branded social media platforms;
  • nurturing a vibrant online community for the museum across its social spaces;
  • working collaboratively across departments to gather, drive, translate, and organise bilingual (English/Chinese) content from a range of sources including the museum’s curatorial, video, editorial, marketing, collections and exhibitions, as well as operational teams;
  • maintaining a social media calendar and posting schedule in collaboration with the museum’s digital and marketing teams to align on promotional activities;
  • driving and participating in social media campaigns on behalf of M+ including global museum hashtag events such as #AskaCurator, #AskanArchivist, and #InternationalMuseumDay;
  • monitoring and responding to questions and comments from social media followers;
  • piloting and developing new content and engagement strategies for the museum’s social media presence in response to emerging social platforms and digital storytelling trends, leveraging multimedia tools such as video and live streaming;
  • liaising with the Rights and Reproductions team regarding image and media copyright matters;
  • assessing and sharing metrics on content performance and adjusting strategies in response to insights; and
  • maintaining and contributing to the development and implementation of the museum’s social media guidelines in response to the evolving digital landscape.

 

You should:

  • possess a recongised university degree;
  • possess 3-5 years of experience in social media, digital communications/marketing, digital journalism, or related experience in the arts and culture field;
  • show a track record of producing and coordinating multimedia content for social media platforms;
  • have an ability to work well within a collaborative, multi-disciplinary team, and liaise with staff members from across the organisation to source and develop content in alignment with the museum mission;
  • be familiar with social media platforms including but not limited to Instagram, Twitter, Facebook, Snapchat, YouTube, and Periscope/Meerkat. Experience with Chinese-language platforms such as WeChat and Weibo is a strong bonus;
  • have strong working knowledge of media editing software such as Photoshop and Illustrator;
  • demonstrate knowledge and understanding of the social media landscape in Hong Kong and beyond;
  • have experience in analysing and reporting on social media performance metrics;
  • be highly organised and detail-oriented, and passionate about arts and culture;
  • have exceptional written and verbal communication skills in English and ideally Chinese, with the ability to make artistic and curatorial ideas accessible for a broad general audience.
