Assistant Legal Advisor (Infrastructure and Construction) (Ref:19252)

The Authority’s Legal & Secretarial Division is looking for a junior lawyer who is interested in joining the in-house legal team, with a particular emphasis on infrastructure and construction related work.

As a member of our legal team, you will be responsible for:

  • assisting in the provision of legal assistance and advice on construction related matters to the Authority’s Projects Division and other Departments involved in the Authority’s construction programme;
  • advising on the drafting and reviewing of construction related legal documents, construction contracts, consultancy agreements, insurance and intellectual property matters related to construction works, financial and commercial issues related to real estate development and infrastructure works and related legal issues;
  • working with other in-house lawyers and external solicitors, counsel and consultants on the resolution of disputes related to construction works; and
  • instructing and managing briefing out work to external law firms and consultants and monitoring their performance.

 

You should:

  • be well-motivated and interested in working as an in-house lawyer in a high profile public authority, specialising in infrastructure and construction related legal work;
  • have at least 3 to 4 years post-qualification experience as a solicitor or a barrister practicing in Hong Kong or another recognised common law jurisdiction as stipulated in Schedule 2 of the Legal Officers Ordinance;
  • have legal experience in the formation and vetting of construction contracts and related dispute resolution procedures;
  • have experience with Government construction projects;
  • have excellent oral and written English communication skills; and
  • demonstrate excellent analytical and interpersonal skills and be able to work in a team.
