M+ Internship Programme – Curatorial (Digital) (Intake 2019) (Ref:18405a)

M+ Internship Programme is a unique opportunity for those who are interested in developing a career in the museum field. Interns will be able to work closely with M+’s professional staff full-time for a period of one year and gain practical and theoretical training.

Besides working on their specific projects under the supervision of their assigned mentors, the interns will also have the chance to learn from curators and senior members of the team in a series of sharing sessions. This is a paid internship that runs on a recurring basis, with openings every year. The internship is available in the following areas: Curatorial and Collections Management.

The Digital Programme Intern will work under the supervision of a Digital Programme Producer. The internship is designed to help interns learn about the role of digital technology, storytelling, audience engagement within a museum and gain practical experience in developing digital platforms inside and outside M+.


You will be able to:

  • learn about and support M+’s digital programme stream which comprises the building of online platforms, in-gallery experiences and digital storytelling;
  • use data and research to uncover insights about museum visitors online and offline;
  • work on a variety of digital projects and gain practical skills in project management, content strategy and user interface development;
  • research new technologies and developments in the global digital landscape; and
  • support the M+ content calendar by ideating and producing web content including video and social media.


You need to:

  • possess a recognised university degree or equivalent qualifications in Art, Design, Architecture, Moving Image, Art Education, Museum Studies, Computer Science, Interaction Design, Publishing, Marketing, Journalism, Communications or a related subject;
  • have a strong understanding of digital technologies and platforms;
  • be familiar with web design, user experience and/or web development topics;
  • be well organised and attentive to details;
  • have strong interest in working professionally in the museum field;
  • possess some relevant working experience (preferred but not essential); and
  • have a good command of spoken and written English and Chinese (Cantonese/Mandarin).
