Reporting to the Senior Exhibition Designer, the Graphic Designer will be part of a dedicated design team focusing on supporting exhibition and display activities across the museum.

(Candidate with less experience may be considered for the post of Assistant Graphic Designer)


You will be responsible for:

  • designing and producing exhibition graphic designs and print collateral materials;
  • working within the Exhibition Design team and in close collaboration with other exhibition project parties to design, prepare and install exhibition graphics, among which exhibition identity, title walls, wall texts, graphics murals, object labels, and print collateral materials such as invitations;
  • working in close collaboration with the Marketing and Customer Experience Department and Digital team to coordinate output for marketing campaigns and digital presence of the exhibition project;
  • developing the graphic design and producing graphic elements for new project; creating graphic look and feel, graphic specifications, production files and researching graphic and photographic media for new exhibits; developing and/or working within an organisational framework/database to accurately track all graphic elements;
  • overseeing graphic production; keeping current with graphic production methods and materials, initiating procurement, coordinating with exhibition managers on schedules and budget, collaborating with the exhibition designers and the Installations and Displays team to meet all design and maintenance requirements, managing graphic production contractors as needed to ensure that final production is cost effective, eco-friendly and of the highest quality; and
  • administering the exhibit graphics record, maintaining an organised archive of production files and helping to define standard operating procedures and workflows.

 

You should:

  • possess a recognised university degree in Graphic Design or equivalent;
  • have at least 3-5 years of experience working as a graphic designer, preferably in a culture/arts related organisation;
  • demonstrate excellent design ability with thorough knowledge of exhibition design, print design, digital marketing and digital publishing;
  • preferably have familiarity with museum exhibit planning, design and construction processes;
  • be proficient in Illustrator, Photoshop and InDesign; have knowledge of Flash, Dreamweaver, HTML would be advantage;
  • have great knowledge of print production and excellent typography skills;
  • have ability to work collaboratively on projects with other team members and incorporate constructive feedback into creative elements;
  • be highly-organised and detail-oriented with excellent initiative, execution and follow-through capacity;
  • showcase ability to handle multiple projects simultaneously and meet deadlines both independently and collaboratively; and
  • have excellent oral and written communication skills in English and Chinese.
