M+ is seeking exceptional candidates for the following roles for the Hong Kong participation in the 58th International Art Exhibition – La Biennale di Venezia (Venice Biennale) from May to November 2019, co-presented by M+ and the Hong Kong Arts Development Council.  As part of our commitment to nurture local talent in the arts, the following roles offer the opportunity to gain unique insights into the working of the world’s oldest and most renowned international art exhibition.
 

Venice Biennale Exhibition Internship

The Internship offers invaluable opportunities for aspiring young professions to experience the 58th Venice Biennale as they take part in the realisation of the Hong Kong participation. Successful candidates will be provided with flights, accommodation and a living allowance for the duration of their stay in Venice.  Professional training and briefing sessions will be offered to successful candidates in Hong Kong prior to their internship periods, where they will meet with the artist and curators.
 

Working Location: Venice, Italy

Duration: 4-5 weeks (April- May, 2019)

Number of vacancies: 2

 

You will be responsible for:

  • assisting the team and the artist in the installation of the exhibition, and supporting in other related events;
  • documenting the installation process for record and publicity purposes;
  • supporting physical works such as lifting, moving, climbing ladders and mounting projectors, etc.; and
  • reflecting your experience in the form of a sharing or a report at the end of the internship.

 

You should:

  • be a Hong Kong permanent resident (aged 18 or above);
  • possess a recognised university degree in art history, fine arts, art education or related discipline;
  • have at least 1 year of working experience in the contemporary art field, exhibition-making or other related fields;
  • have prior experience in handling and installing large-scale installation, knowledge in carpentry is a plus;
  • have sound knowledge in health and safety related issues;
  • demonstrate knowledge in and passion for contemporary art;
  • have strong desire to continue developing your profession in the field of exhibition set-up;
  • be a good team player and able to work independently;
  • have strong work ethic and sense of responsibility; and
  • have good command of spoken and written English and Chinese.
