M+ is a museum dedicated to collecting, exhibiting, and interpreting visual art, design and architecture, moving image, and Hong Kong visual culture of the twentieth and twenty-first centuries. Working as part of the Collections Database team, you will establish accepted museum standards via our Collections Management System (TMS) by developing and maintaining documentation and supporting an ongoing training program in a continuously growing organisation. 

 

You will be responsible for:

  • developing and maintaining system (TMS) documentation including, but not limited to, documentation standards manuals, data content standards (i.e. cataloguing rules), data entry guides, procedures and workflows;
  • the development and delivery of ongoing training initiatives, both introductory and advanced, for existing and new users of the system;
  • developing and delivering TMS training resources including, but not limited to, video training series, training modules for particular users groups, such as Curatorial and Conservation, practice exercises, refresher training and periodic evaluations;
  • contributing to the ongoing development of a data monitoring programme and supporting Collections Database Manager on the planning and implementation of new data standards;
  • assisting in the development and maintenance of the TMS Support SharePoint site; and
  • coordinating and standardising existing collections documentation and collection database outputs.

You should:

  • possess a recognised university degree, preferably in museum studies, library information systems or equivalent;
  • have 3-4 years of experience working with a database application in the Museum or Library and Archive sector, preferably TMS;
  • have sound knowledge of Collections Management practices, preferably in a museum setting;
  • have experience and skills in technical writing and documentation in relation with information management;
  • have demonstrable experience providing training to groups and individuals and advocating the use of a database system in an organisational setting; and
  • have excellent communication skills with the ability to support both technical and non-technical database users in English and Chinese.
