M+ is a museum dedicated to collecting, exhibiting, and interpreting visual art, design and architecture, moving image, and Hong Kong visual culture of the twentieth and twenty-first centuries. In Hong Kong’s West Kowloon Cultural District, we are building one of the largest museums of modern and contemporary visual culture in the world, with a bold ambition to establish ourselves as one of the world’s leading cultural institutions. Our aim is to create a new kind of museum that reflects our unique time and place, a museum that builds on Hong Kong’s historic balance of the local and international to define a distinctive and innovative voice for Asia’s twenty-first century.

 

To ensure the M+ Pavilion provides an excellent visitor experience to our audiences, we are now looking for Visitor Services Associate to play a key role in supporting the front of house operations of the venue, ensuring they are delivered to the highest standard in a welcoming and safe environment.

You will be responsible for:

  • delivering an engaging visitor experience to all exhibition attendees to the highest possible standard, ensuring a warm welcome and providing assistance and information as and when necessary;

  • working collaboratively with other departments such as security and facilities management to ensure providing world class visitor experience;

  • handling M+ Pavilion phone call and online enquiries, venue bookings from various channels;

  • providing administrative, clerical, event support and ensuring a smooth running of daily operation;

  • responding to difficult or emergency situations professionally and calmly and supporting on matters relating to public safety including but not limited to fire safety and emergency evacuation;

  • ensuring the exhibits are secure and well-protected without damages, and visitors are complying with gallery rules;

  • understanding the content of each exhibition through training and reading of supporting materials;

  • ensuring the Pavilion is kept in a clean and workable order and reporting any issues to the appropriate personnel;

  • being aware of all daily activities and assisting with access to the building for M+ staff, contractors, deliveries, maintenance etc., as and when necessary;

  • handling any sales transactions, supporting the collation of daily reports and collection of visitor information or surveys;

  • attending relevant training including but not limited to orientation, first aid, art work protection and emergency handling protocols; and

  • supporting the team on ad hoc duty when required.

     

You should:

 

  • possess a recognised university degree;

  • have preferably 4 years of relevant experience, preferably with hospitality or retail experience;

  • have proven operations or customer-facing or event support experience with an understanding of basic public safety requirements, preferably in a cultural venue;

  • possess approachable personality, cheerful, proactive, customer-oriented and detail-minded mindset;

  • be a good team player with the ability to multi-task in a fast-paced and dynamic environment;

  • demonstrate excellent interpersonal skills and be able to work both independently and cooperatively with others;

  • be proficient in MS Office including Word, Excel and Powerpoint;

  • have good organizational and administrative skills;

  • have excellent oral and written communication skills in English and Chinese;

  • be prepared to work in weekend and public holiday hours and occasional evening works according to the duty roster assigned as shift duty is required; and

  • be prepared to work at the M+ Pavilion and Cyberport office or other locations when required.
