Development Officer (Ref:18126)

Hong Kong Island (Cyberport Office)

Reporting to the Assistant Manager, Development Services, this position will work closely with the team to support the identification and stewardship process of the fundraising cycle and to handle the activities related to the sharing and storing department information with the use of the Microsoft Share-point and Salesforce Customer Relationship Management system.


You will be responsible for:

  • supporting the Assistant Manager, Development Services in all data management, prospect management and project strategies related to meeting budgeted fundraising goals;
  • maintaining WKCDA’s Development database including gift entry, building queries, importing lists, generating reports, developing database best practices and ensuring all gifts and account records are up-to-date and accurate;
  • updating and maintaining reputation information on prospects and donors in the Salesforce CRM, including clipping relevant newspaper and journal articles, researching internet databases as well as entering contact and meeting notes for donors and prospects;
  • handling gifts processes including gift-in-kind, cash, cheque, bank transfer and credit card donations by consistently and accurately updating relevant information in Salesforce CRM;
  • collaborating with relevant parties to ensure effective data flow and appropriate documentation is captured and shared following the GDPR / Personal Data Privacy Ordinance, ICAC guidelines or other relevant statutory regulations;
  • supporting the prospect vetting process via preparation of donor profiles on individuals, corporations and foundations which include biographical, financial and historical giving information, potential for philanthropic support, areas of interest and affiliations;
  • implementing donor stewardship processes including generating acknowledgement letters and tax receipts, coordinating mailings and email correspondence for donors; reporting to supporters the sources and impact of donations; and
  • assisting with prompt and appropriate prospect research and other development services duties as needed and when available.


You should:

  • possess a recognised university degree;
  • have at least 2 years of relevant working experience in non-profits, journalism, market research, information management or related field;
  • be proficient in using online research databases and other resources for doing research, and have experience using a relational database management system; knowledge of media sources and wealth screening tools would be an advantage;
  • able to maintain high degree of accuracy with good attention of details;
  • have the discretion in handling confidential information and ability to work as independently and as a member of a team;
  • demonstrate knowledge of developing and implementing the customer relationship management system or other fundraising / sales / marketing software and be familiar with working in a fundraising or sales environment; and
  • be proficient in written and spoken English and Chinese.
